I have taught high school mathematics for more than thirty years and also have a good general
knowledge of the sciences. Together with my recent qualification in proofreading and editing,
this potentially makes me an expert at editing and proofreading books or articles of a
mathematical or scientific nature. My editing and proofreading services go under the name of

I have a good command of the English language and have recently finished writing my first
novel. ‘Windows on Our World, Part 1: Hope’, the first of a fantasy trilogy, written under the pen

Below are listed some of the services I offer and the charges:
1. Basic editing
Basic editing applies to a manuscript that is essentially well written and does not contain many
poorly written sentences. It involves correction of spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary,
word usage, capitalisation, word breaks and tone. I will also critique the content and make
suggestions for improvement without rewriting or making changes to your own distinct style.
Charges for basic editing: US$6 per 1000 words.
2. Copyediting
If you have already been through several drafts of your manuscript and think you have
completed it to your satisfaction but want a final check before publication, then you need your
work copy edited. Copyediting includes all the same corrections as basic editing, but also
involves re-writing some parts to improve the clarity, style and flow of your writing.
Charges for copyediting: US$12 per 1000 words.
3. Proofreading
Proofreading is the final stage before you submit your manuscript to a publisher. Proofreading
involves the identification and correction of typographical errors, but will also include correction
of spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and formatting that may have been missed at the
editing stage.
There are no fixed charges for the number of words since the amount of work involved can vary
considerably from author to author. Proofreading will be charged at a rate of $16 per hour.
4. Ghostwriting
I can write your book or e-book for you. The cost of writing your book will depend on the amount
of information you supply to me and the amount of research needed.
Charges for ghostwriting: These start at US$30 per 1000 words, but the charges may be more if
further research is required. Provide your details and ask me for a quote.
